Great article about teaching connotation
Laura sent this to me today, and I think it would be great for bringing in to a reading class. I'm always trying to teach connotation, but it is tricky. This article offers some great ideas.

New Year's class activity with Calvin & Hobbes
I love Calvin & Hobbes, so when I came across this post on Twitter, I knew I was going to like it. (Again, you should all be on Twitter - if I ever have an amazing idea, I probably got it from Twitter.) A teacher posted an easy, quick New Year's-themed class activity with a Calvin & Hobbes comic strip. Loved the idea, and I think I'll use it on the first day of classes next week. I think it could work well in all classes and at a variety of levels.
Here's the link.
And here's the website of the teacher who tweeted it.

Blogs for academic research
... is a good thing! You know how much I drive you crazy with blogs, but here's an interesting little article about how they can be useful for scholarly work (and it was published by someone from my former school, K-State).
And speaking of blogs, I'm going to be hitting all of you up again for help with the ELC blog, so start thinking of assignments for your students!
