NAFSA 2013 Call for Proposals

Share your knowledge and experience by submitting a proposal now for NAFSA's 65th Annual Conference & Expo, "Ideals and Impact in International Education," in St. Louis, Missouri, May 26-31, 2013. Engage attendees by showcasing your innovative ideas and practices through workshops, sessions, and posters. St. Louis's history of serving as a gateway to opportunities and innovation makes it the perfect place to explore our ideals and impact in international education.    

The 2013 Annual Conference Committee (ACC) is seeking proposals that are informative and relevant, encourage opportunities for engagement with the audience, and demonstrate application to the work of participants. To learn more about what the ACC is looking for and to improve your chances of developing a winning proposal, review the call for proposals and watch a tutorial on mastering the online proposal process.

Contribute to the field of international education by presenting a workshop or session at the world's largest gathering of international educators.

NAFSA Region VII Conference

Call for Session Proposals:
Region VIII is now accepting proposals for the NAFSA Region VIII conference, to be held November 13-17, 2012 in Alexandria, VA.  Proposals will be accepted from now until the deadline on June 18, 2012 (5:00pm, EST).  We look forward to reviewing your proposal.  The team will complete the vetting of proposals and notify submitters all of their status by July 17, 2012.

NAFSA Advocacy Day

Registration for NAFSA’s annual Advocacy Day, being held March 20-21, 2012, in Washington, D.C., is now open.

Advocacy Day provides you with an opportunity to develop a relationship with your members of Congress and their staff through sharing stories about real-life people who are affected by their decisions as well as valuable and timely information that illustrates the importance of international education in their state and district.

Registration information can be found on the Advocacy Day Web page. The deadline for early registration is Friday, February 10, 2012, and the general registration deadline is Wednesday, March 14, 2012. Registration will be limited to the first 125 participants. Don’t delay, register today!

There is a block of rooms available at the Doubletree Hotel for Advocacy Day. Reservations can be made by calling 202-232-7000. When making a reservation, participants should refer to the "NAF" room block to secure the discounted rate of $232/night. Reservations must be made on or before February 16th.

For the next issue of the Region VIII newsletter, due out in January 2012, we would like to feature any news, announcements, accolades, photos, educational fairs, events, activities, networking or other opportunities that you would like to share with the Region. We also encourage you to consider submitting book or movie reviews, interviews, essays or other creative pieces that relate to the field and would be of interest to the Region.
