NAFSA Leadership

From the email:

Advance International Education Through NAFSA Leadership
Hundreds of NAFSA members advance the field of international education by volunteering to serve the association. They take on leadership roles as members of national committees, knowledge communities, teams, and task forces. They create and disseminate knowledge, influence public policy, and set the course for the organization.
NAFSA leaders:
  • Build strong networks with peers both in the United States and in other countries.
  • Gain visibility on their campuses, in their communities, and in their NAFSA regions.
  • Build their skills and experience through professional development and the acquisition of new skill sets.
  • Learn more about NAFSA’s strategic priorities and organizational structure.
Make a difference as you deepen your connection to the field and to NAFSA. Review the volunteer position descriptions, apply, and become a leader today!
Application deadline: September 21, 2012.

TESOL Volunteers needed

 From the email:

TESOL, like so many other organizations, is dependent on the time and expertise of its member volunteers. Volunteer opportunities range from serving on the board of directors to helping out at the annual convention.
TESOL standing committees also rely on volunteers. Service on a standing committee provides members with an opportunity to develop leadership skills and use their expertise and experience to help guide TESOL programs, services, and publications.
TESOL members may apply to serve on the following committees:
  • Awards
  • Book Publications
  • Diversity
  • Employment Issues
  • Global Professional Issues
  • Membership
  • Professional Development
  • Research
  • Rules and Resolutions
  • Serial Publications
  • Standards
Visit the TESOL website for more information about each committee and to read the entire call for volunteers.
The application deadline for service on a standing committee is 30 September 2012. Apply online or download the application form.
Expectations and Requirements
You must be a member of TESOL International Association in good standing to serve on a standing committee. Committee members need to be able to attend the committee’s annual meeting at the TESOL international convention at their own expense and participate, as needed, in the work of the committee online throughout the year. For most committees, a 3-year term of service, renewable each year, is expected.
Learn about additional opportunities to serve TESOL International Association on the TESOL website.
Thank you for your interest in contributing to your professional association!
